Visual Learning Games for Autistic Kids
Many families of autistic children and children with speech or language delay use FunMinds because the games are calm, visual and predictable. Every game works the same way: a picture, a question read aloud, and a few large picture answers to choose from.
Open the gamesWhat makes it easier to play
- Picture answers. Children can answer by tapping, without needing to read or speak.
- Questions read aloud, at a slightly slower pace.
- No timer and gentle hints, so there is no pressure to rush.
- Sounds can be turned off for children who are sensitive to noise.
- Short stages with stars at the end, and the same layout in every game.
Games families often start with
- Feelings: naming feelings from faces and body clues, and choosing what to do.
- WH Questions: answering who, what and where questions about everyday life.
- Actions: naming actions and what objects are used for.
- Story Sequence: putting picture routines in order, like getting ready for school.
- Categories: sorting things into groups.
Tips
- Start on Level 1 and stay there while it feels easy and fun.
- Play alongside your child and name what you see together.
- Keep sessions short and end on a success.
FunMinds is a free practice tool. It is not a treatment or therapy, and it does not replace advice from your child's doctor, therapist or teacher.
